- DHI Hair Transplant
The DHI Global Medical Group company developed the direct hair implantation or also known as DHI hair transplant method as a variation of the FUE procedure. Before implanting hair follicles, a surgeon performs manual scalp channel-cutting in FUE. When performing DHI, they employ a specific pen-shaped tool that can perform both tasks simultaneously.
How Is DHI Hair Transplant Performed?
DHI hair transplant uses a similar technique to FUE hair implantation and is a modified version of it. A section of your scalp, typically the back of your head, will have hair follicles removed, which the surgeon will then transplant into balding areas. New hairs will eventually sprout from these hair follicles. Your surgeon will trim your hair and numb it with local anesthetic before shaving it.

On the back of your head, the surgeon will use an instrument with a fine tip to remove hair follicles. The hair follicles will be inserted into the balding area of your scalp using pen-shaped equipment. All locations will be bandaged and an antibiotic cream will be applied by the surgeon. Depending on the quantity of hair follicles being transplanted, the length of time required to finish surgery for FUE and DHI can vary. To fully appreciate the effects of the procedure, it may take 12 to 18 months.
Healing Process After DHI Hair Transplant
A hot and inflamed scalp following a DHI hair transplant is a very common adverse effect. If the hair transplantation surgery takes longer than expected, it’s conceivable that your scalp will need extra time to recover from the side effects. Additionally, if you have any serious medical concerns, your recovery time may take longer. The healing process typically takes 10 to 20 days. If it requires more effort from you, we advise going to see your hair transplant surgeon, as he or she will be better equipped to assist you in this case.
Who Needs DHI Hair Transplant?
The greatest candidates for DHI hair implantation have androgenic alopecia, which is the most prevalent form of hair loss. Male or female pattern hair loss is the term used to describe this disorder. Anyone getting hair implants should be at least 25 years old. Before this age, hair loss is more variable. Typically, those with thicker hair outperform those with thinner hair. Each hair follicle is more fully covered by thicker hair. Poor candidates for hair transplants are those who have less than square centimeters of donor site hair density.
